Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; sons, John and James Taylor; daughter, Ruth Taylor; 2 grandsons, Joshua (Nicole) Taylor and Alyxander Taylor; 1 great-grandson, Mason Taylor; and sister, Dixie Brekke. Stokes, age 80, passed away Monday, June 10th, 2013, at her home. Peters Church and their Altar and Rosary Society, where she served as past president. Marty was a 1955 graduate of New York School for the Deaf (Fanwood), a 1959 graduate of Gallaudet University and a 1964 graduate of Eastern Michigan University.He spent his career as a teacher, principal, and coach at the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint.He was also inducted into the Fanwood Hall of Fame. He enjoyed walking, reading, watching movies on DVD and playing and watching sports especially basketball and tennis.He was a long time member of the Flint Association of the Deaf and Senior Citizens.She was born in Dunlap, Iowa, on January 10, 1927, to the late Lester and Bernice (Madison) Goodman.
Ruth worked for Iowa School for the Deaf, and retired after 23 years of service (the ISD Laundry or Housekeeping Department).She married Paul Messerli on October 2, 1946, at the St. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Paul Messerli, of Council Bluffs; son, Mike Messerli and wife, Linda, of Bella Vista, Ark.; daughter, Connie Lauver and husband, Steve, of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Tammi Martin (Mike), of Council Bluffs, Todd Messerli (Becky), of Leawood, Kan., Michelle Schaeffer (Brent), and Renee Lauver, all of Council Bluffs; great grandchildren, Erick, Alex and Chad Martin, Marie, Mitchell, Peter and Claire Messerli, Jordan and Allison Schaeffer and Emily Frieze; sister, Virginia Carberry; aunt, Ruth Eleanor Carberry; several nieces and nephews.May 30, 1932 - April 27, 2013 Bobby Gene Fisher, 80, was found dead in bed in his apartment in Topeka, Kansas, by his landlord on April 27, 2013.He was born May 30, 1932 and attended Iowa School for the Deaf, Council Bluffs. Autopsy results from the Shawnee County, Kansas, Coroner's Office showed that he died of clogged arteries.Dove Cremation and Funeral Service in Topeka has been entrusted with final arrangements.He was born in Nevada, Iowa on September 9, 1930, the son of Ray and Ruth Patten Taylor.
